Lay Person Opportunities

We are looking to work alongside a panel of Lay Persons, from a wide range of backgrounds, to participate in the structures and processes that we use to deliver our quality management responsibilities. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside our highly professional staff, and to be part of our passion for delivering high quality postgraduate medical education and training for junior doctors. We are looking for people with degree level qualifications and / or experience (not in medicine) who will use their knowledge and skills to help further improve the quality of education and training that we deliver.
Scope of the role
This role does not carry a contract of employment and agreeing to act as a lay person does not constitute an employment contract with the Deanery or its employing host, NHS South of England. Preparation time will be required prior to each meeting, which may include reading of papers or other documentation. Appointed persons will be required to undertake induction training and will receive on-going support from the Deanery. Remuneration for the role will be £75 for a half day, and £150 for a full day. How will the lay members be selected?
A selection panel will review all expressions of interest in this role and will interview those applications that most closely reflect the criteria as detailed in the person specification. While expressions of interest can be made at anytime, the Deanery will only interview applicants when a need for additional lay persons is required. As a result, your expression of interest may be held on file at the Deanery for up to 12 months pending a vacancy arising within the panel of lay persons.
