Inter Deanery Transfers
The national timeline for Inter-Deanery Transfers (IDTs) for 2013 is currently being awaited from the Department of Health. There will be changes to the process and we have been informed that there will be one window per year only as opposed to the two windows we have had in place up until now.
We will update this page as soon as this information is received.
Trainees wishing to move between deaneries may apply for an inter-deanery transfer provided that certain specific criteria for eligibility are met. Transfers must be approved at the home deanery before being considered by the receiving deanery. To ensure a consistent approach across all deaneries and specialties there are national guidelines governing the movement of Specialist and Specialty trainees (SpRs / StRs / GP StRs) between Deaneries and inter-deanery transfer of NTNs / Core Training Numbers (DRNs). You must read this document before submitting an application.

Transferring out of the South West Peninsula
If you are a trainee wishing to transfer out of the South West Peninsula you should meet the following criteria:
- You will have spent at least one year in the South West Peninsula Deanery on your proposed date of transfer.
- You have a satisfactory ARCP outcome (for StR's) or have been awarded a RITA C (satisfactory progress) within the last year.
- You are in a job from which you are eligible to apply for an inter-deanery transfer.

Please note that these are eligibility criteria and meeting them does not guarantee that your application will be successful.
Transferring in to the South West Peninsula
If you wish to transfer to the South West Peninsula from another Deanery you must apply to your own Deanery in the first instance. If the Dean in your region approves your request your Deanery will forward your application to the South West Peninsula Deanery. Your application will be considered by a panel then, if approval is granted, it will be passed to the Training Programme Director in your specialty. If you are offered a place on the training programme the transfer can be completed.
Application Process / Forms
Trainees who wish to transfer out of the South West Peninsula must complete the 'Inter-Deanery Transfer Application Form' below. Trainees must have discussed their transfer request with the Training Programme Director prior to submitting an application. Applications that have not been signed by the Training Programme Director prior to the submission deadline will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed by the panel.
Applications should be sent to the relevant School Manager along with an up-to-date CV and most recent ARCP / RITA outcomes. Please click here for School Manager contact details.
