Higher Specialist Training (SpR or ST3+) Annual Assessment

Trainees undertaking Higher Specialist Training (SpR or ST3+) are required to have an annual assessment, either ARCP or RITA. Details of these assessments can be found in the table below.  By clicking on the relevant specialty below you will find the individual specialty requirements for your assessment, the checklists are by no means exhaustive and it is advised that you communicate with your Training Programme Director for more detailled requirement information once you have been scheduled for an assessment  Please use these checklists as a guide when preparing for your assessment. Its is your responsibility to check what is expected of you and prepare accordingly.  The JRCPTB website is an invaluable source of assessment information.  If you cannot find a link then please refer to the JRCPTB website for individual specialty infomation.

The timetable will be sent to you once finalised and agreed by the Training Programme Director.  The times are subject to change and we would recommend that you allow plenty of extra time on the day of your assessment.  If you are unhappy with the time slot you have been allocated it is the trainees responsibility to coordinate a swap, we will not do this on your behalf.  You must inform the Deanery of your intention to swap and both parties must inform the Deanery of their agreement to swap before final approval can be agreed. Enhanced Form R's now form a mandatory part of your assessment and GMC revalidation you MUST now submit this prior to your assessment by the submission date listed. Click on the following link to take you to the revalidation process and the En hanced form R to download and complete. http://www.peninsuladeanery.nhs.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1421&Itemid=1278

All relevant paperwork/assessments must be completed and submitted by the submission deadline prior to the assessment date.  This is to allow the deanery time to collate all the trainee informaiton and submit to the panel.  Any documentation dated after the published submission date wil not be submitted to the panel. Failure to submit by the published submission date could result in a RITA D or Outcome 5 being issued.
