Applying to the School

 In 2012 the South West Peninsula Deanery will be recruiting at CT1 level to two year themed rotations, which subject to satisfactory progress will ensure trainees are eligible to apply for ST3 level posts in their chosen sub-specialty.

The South West Peninsula Deanery currently offers the following themed rotations:-

  • General Surgery
  • Trauma and Orthopaedics
  • Otolaryngology (ENT)
  • Plastic Surgery
    • The Management Station

The interview process comprises of a number of stations, usually 10 minutes in duration. At these stations, various attributes will be assessed and marked. Interview stations will include:- 

     

This station is to ask questions surrounding the management of your time, judgement and ethics. You will be asked 2 Management scenario questions

 

  •  
    • Portfolio Station

 

Whilst your portfolio is not scored at interview it will be examined by panel members prior to entering the interview room and will contribute to the interview discussion 

 

  •  
    • Clinical  Scenario Station

  

There will be 2 clinical scenario questions; the first will be given to the candidate outside of the interview room where they will have 3 minutes to read and prepare for the question..
